A developed financial market is a critical pillar of economic growth for a country. It is also the basis for an important alternative source of long-term finance for productive investments, which helps the banking system to match long-term investments with available capital. 

In this context, the course will study alternative ways for an improved distribution of wealth and how developing countries can use financial markets for growth purposes. 

Objectives

The seminar helps participants to use capital markets to enhance economic development. 

Participants leave the class with a clear view of the mechanisms of the markets and how to use its subtilities to help the local economy. 

At the end of the course, participants will be able to: 

  • Choose the best type of financial instruments with the aim of developing the local economy
  • Define the parameters for the development of a local “Private Equity” project
  • Use bonds to develop a local project
  • Use the necessary infrastructure for the development of capital markets and understand how pre-trading, trading, matching, clearing, settlement and custody activities work
  • Integrate financial products with the aim of creating efficient portfolios

Day1

  • Concepts: Importance of capital markets for local development
  • Markets: Use of "Private Equity" to develop the local economy: attracting foreign capital through "Private Equity"

Day 2

  • Fixed Income Instruments and the importance of the development of Fixed Income Instruments for developing countries.
  • Criteria's that investors take into account when investing in bonds.
  • How to attract foreign capital through bonds.

Day 3

  • Infrastructure activities: Pre-trading, trading, matching, clearing and settlement, custody, necessary infrastructures.
  • Efficient portfolio management including various assets
