Objective

The objective of this training programme is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills required to conduct effective Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) audits.

Introduction to ESG Auditing

  • Introduction to ESG auditing and its role in driving sustainable business practices

  • Objectives and benefits of conducting ESG audits for organisations

  • Overview of prominent ESG standards and frameworks (e.g. Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD))

  • Integration of ESG considerations into the audit process

Conducting ESG Audits

  • Methods for identifying and assessing ESG risks within an organisation

  • Tools and techniques for evaluating ESG performance and impact

  • Conducting compliance audits to assess adherence to ESG standards and guidelines

  • Providing valuable insights and recommendations to improve ESG practices

Assurance and Reporting in ESG Auditing

  • Assurance in ESG reporting and the role of ESG auditors

  • Reporting frameworks and guidelines for ESG disclosures (e.g., GRI Standards, SASB Standards)

  • Verification and assurance methodologies for ESG data

  • Developing assurance reports and communicating findings effectively

Case Study Example: Participants will engage in a case study that involves conducting an ESG audit, evaluating compliance with ESG standards, assessing ESG risks and performance, and providing assurance on ESG data. Participants will analyse the case study, develop an audit plan, gather relevant evidence, and produce an assurance report.

Methodology

This training programme will adopt a blended learning approach to ensure an interactive and engaging experience for participants. The programme will include a combination of:

Target audience

We welcome Junior and Senior Auditors, Heads of Audit as well as Risk and Compliance Officers. 

Remarks

This course has an intermediate level. Participants are required to have read the summary document on Introduction to ESG that will be provided prior to the course.

Due to its short duration, this course can only be delivered on site if coupled with another course in audit by the same trainer.
