The final step of the Advanced Banking Leadership Programme (ABLP) recently took place in Luxembourg, marking the successful conclusion of a ten-month learning journey for a group of professionals from Rwanda’s financial sector. The ABLP is organised in cooperation with the Rwanda Banks Association (RBA) and with the support of the Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The programme combined several in-person workshops held in Rwanda with an online module. The workshops focused on key topics for the banking sector, including Digital Transformation & Fintech, Leadership & People Management, Strategy, Governance & Internal Control, and Sustainable Finance & ESG. Following a series of assessments conducted during the programme, all participants successfully passed the required tests.
As a final step, the participants travelled to Luxembourg to take part in a Bank Simulation Game, where teams representing fictive banks competed and experienced the challenges of strategic and managerial decision-making in a banking environment.
The programme officially concluded with a closing dinner held in the presence of H.E. the Ambassador of Rwanda to Luxembourg.
We hope that the knowledge and experience gained during the ABLP will contribute to the professional development of the participants and support the continued strengthening of their respective institutions and the banking sector in Rwanda. We look forward to welcoming a second cohort in the future.
